My Homemade Almond-Oat-Honey Balls
Making your own energy balls is a great way to take control of what you’re eating while saving money. It’s super easy, and you can find all the ingredients at your local grocery store.
I started making my own energy balls because I enjoy hiking, and when you're in the outdoors for hours, it's a good idea to have a snack to keep going. When I made my very first energy balls batch, I soon realised they’re also a fantastic snack to have at home. I've always liked chocolate and ice cream, but it's said that those food cravings may signal a lack of magnesium or iron. So why would I not just fuel up with a bit more magnesium and iron instead? I thought: why not give my body what it might actually need?
I have created a new recipe and made a batch of homemade energy balls, and they turned out great! So I'm sharing the recipe here in case you'd like to give it a try too.
Why You’ll Love These Almond-Oat-Honey Balls? Because they are

✔️ Ideal before or after your workout
✔️ Great for breakfast or on-the-go

These energy balls are full of protein, fibre, and natural sweetness. They’re easy to make, satisfying, and so much better than processed snacks. Just grab one and go!
My Recipe: Homemade Almond-Oat-Honey Balls
Ingredients:
10 g cocoa powder
50 g ground porridge oats
30 g ground almonds
60 g honey
100 g peanut butter
10 g sunflower seeds
10 g flaxseeds
10 g chia seeds
25 g whole porridge oats
2 tbsp desiccated coconut
How to Make Energy Balls
Making your own energy balls is quick and doesn’t require much effort, especially once you have all the ingredients at home. If your oats are whole, you can grind them in a food processor. If you’re just making a small batch (about 10 energy balls), you can even crush them by hand, it’s really easy.
Preparation:
• Have all your ingredients ready.
• Prepare a plate lined with baking paper and a clean storage container.
• Chop or grind the oats and almonds if not already done.
Mixing
• Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a large spoon until combined.
Forming the Balls
• All you need to do is divide the mixture into 10 equal portions.
• Then roll each portion into a ball (approx. 30 g each).
• If the mixture is too sticky, roll the balls in coconut flakes. It's that simple.
• Place the finished energy balls on a plate and enjoy!
And that’s it. Done!

Tips:
• Many stores sell pre-ground nuts (great if you’re short on time).
• Store the energy balls in a sealed container in the fridge.
• They’ll stay fresh for up to 2 weeks (though mine never last that long).
Enjoy!
