Here's My Recipe: Homemade Energy Bars

Ingredients:

o   200 g porridge oats

o   150 g walnuts

o    50 g almonds

o   100 g sunflower seeds

o   50 to 60 g peanut butter

o   200 g honey

o   100 g dates

o   2 eggs or 2 tbsp chia seeds + 40 ml water

How To Make Energy Bars?

Making your own energy bar is super easy and does not require much time once you have all of the ingredients at home.

Choose the nuts you love. You don't need to use walnuts or almonds, you can also just use one type of nuts, for example, peanuts, or you can mix different nuts as you wish.

Just make sure it’s 200 grams of nuts altogether for this recipe. For example, I used 150 grams of walnuts and 50 grams of almonds. The nuts were whole, so I chopped them in a food processor.

If you don’t have eggs, you can use chia seeds as egg replacement. Chia seeds work well and are healthy too. Instead of 2 eggs, you need 2 tbsp of chia seeds and 40 ml water.

Step 1: Preparation:

  • Heat your oven to 160 °C (fan)

  • Use a small baking tin (size of baking : approx. 30 cm x 25 cm)

  • Butter your baking tin or place baking paper in it.

  • Chop the nuts, almonds and dates

  • Add chia seeds in 40 ml of water (let them rest for while you prepare the rest)

Step 2: How to make them:

  • Mix the oats, chopped nuts and seeds in a bowl.

  • Add honey and peanut butter and mix everything with a spoon.

  • Add dates and soaked chia seeds and stir everything until well mixed.

  • Pour into the baking tin, press down lightly, and ensure your mix is spread evenly.

  • Bake for about 30 minutes.

  • Take the tin out of the oven and let it cool.

  • Cut the bars into sizes of your choice while still warm.

Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Some stores sell grounded nuts, for example walnuts, almonds or hazelnuts.

  • Don’t have chia seeds? You can use 2 eggs instead.

  • Don’t have eggs? You can use linseeds instead. (2 tbsp. in 40 ml of water)

  • How to save time and energy? You can make a larger batch. Simply double the ingredients and use a larger baking tray.

  • Store the bars in a sealed container in the fridge. They'll stay fresh for around 2

weeks. Or even longer, if you freeze them.
